Our yard

Okay, so it's not exactly OUR yard, but it's a strip of green that makes me love our street. It makes the seasons come alive and it actually made me enjoy fall for the first time in my life! We are having quite a nice fall, lots of pretty colors and sunny weather, which is unique to the Netherlands!
This morning I woke up with a throbbing head. I didn't understand, as I slept very well. Only after my ears woke up (they may take ten minutes more than my eyes lol), I understood. There was sawing and digging and boinking and booming going on on both sides of our building! Some gardeners were apparently hired by the city council to rip that beloved strip of green apart... :(

Look what they did!! Not sure what the point in all this is, but it sure makes me sad that they pulled out a blooming hydrangea and a rosebush and that stuff that stays green in the winter...
This is what it used to look like... Actually, this is what they're destroying now, it's the building across the street. Add the hydrangea and you see what was at our front door...
And this is what's left... I sure hope they'll fill this floral graveyard with some new green stuff... I couldn't even save one plant after they'd left... :(
