Arnhem show

It was wonderful! The whole fair took place inside a big church in the center of Arnhem, other than the usual event hall. I heard different opinions about the new location, but to me nothing beats natural lighting :) True, it was a pity that the stands were smaller, but I think the fair in october will make up for that (that's huge!).

I always bring my camera and forget to take any pictures. So this time I left my camera at home and decided to 'borrow' other peoples' snapshots. And of course, I regretted not taking my camera this time lol. I took a few pictures with my phone, but the quality is less. Still, combining phone and borrowed pictures, I have quite a few to show you!

Here's one of the church.

This fairy queen is a creation of Ria Odijk, a Dutch dollmaker. She makes all kind of creatures from fairytales. She had a Viking too, I loved that guy, but the picture was a mess sadly.

Another one of Ria's dolls. Soft green hair and colorful feathers give this Venetian beauty her charm.

This couple is so cute. Grandpa on a rocking chair trying to tell his granddaughter her bear will be okay. This doll was done by the lady of Het Kleine Volk. All her dolls pictured some kind of little scene.

These old ladies drinking tea are also made by that lady. I love the saggy cheeks of the one on the right.

A stand with embroidery kits and samples. I remember walking by, but forgot the name (I really suck at names). Picture by Liezbeth.

What a cool couple huh? The detail on them is great! Look at those boots!

Flowers and plants by Jan van den Doel

Wood turnings by John Kramer

Then into the chapel. To the left was a showcase with dolls by James Carrington. They really are even prettier than they look on pictures. The black boxes you see are show boxes by Ronan Jim Sevéllec. I'll show you two more shots made by my friend Tea, but if you want to get a better idea of the detail, go to the website of the fair. There you can find beautiful photography of his work.

Then of course, when I got home, Alice was waiting impatiently. She was really looking forward for me to bring home some new brackets for the roof. Some of the current ones are missing and the ones that are still here are just plain ugly. I searched for new ones at Arnhem, but found none. So I had to disappoint Alice and more importantly, myself.
I did bring some other good stuff though. I told Alice she had to help me sand the front of the house first and after the hard work she would get the gifts.

So we went to sand AGAIN. This time the hard part, getting the blue off. It took a dremel tool and a lot of sandpaper to get the most off. Now there's only the nooks and crannies left to do.

This is what I bought. A writing desk about to be a vanity, a hand knit petrol cardigan for Alice, incredibly thin white leather for the finishing touch of a stroller and the book Alice in Wonderland, which is actually readable!

Oh and one of the fellow members of the Dutch dollhouse forum gave me a piece of mirror foil. That's for a small project I have in mind :)

Alice loves her new cardigan and I think it looks lovely on her.

The new book was also a very welcome surprise and we're already halfway through.

My mother had to buy a busticket at the central station and we both got three free mini Miffy's. They're for hanging on your phone or bag and they bring good fortune, but Alice snagged them for Coral's room. Fine by me, they won't get scratched up there :)

Here's a close up of the little bunnies. This is about twice their actual size!

That's all for now, hope you've enjoyed the small tour I took you on. Arnhem show is actually two days and next year I'll definately be going both days!
